Spoken word feature at a new slam in… Scottsdale. Organized in part by Anthology, Inc.

When?

This show happens on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.

8PM signup, 8:30 start.
What?

This event blends a competative slam with an open mic component. Cash prizes are awarded for the slam, and additionally, up to six poets will also be allowed to read in one of two “open mic” portions of the show. Open mic poets will not be scored, but will be asked to be true to time limits of the slam.

Round 1: 10 poets maximum.
Break
Open mic round: 3 poets
Round 2: 7 poets
Break
Open mic round: 3 poets
Round 3: 4 poets

Anyone, regardless of experience, is encouraged to come and read.

Each poem should be original work.

Competitors should have 3 poems ready to read, one poem in each of three rotations, or rounds. Open mic readers should have 1 poem ready to read.

No props, costumes or nudity (g’heh).

Each performance has a 3 minute time limit.

5 judges are chosen and score each performance (1 to 10), with the lowest and highest score for each performance being dropped.
Who?
Well, YOU for one. whether it’s audience, an open mic reader or a shot at the slam money, this event will happen because you attend! Expect prominent poets from all over the valley as well, and plenty of other people that love the literary arts.
Where?
Chyro Arts is located at 1330 N. Scottsdale Rd. (Scottsdale Road and McDowell)
How?
Much? $5 at the door. Coming with a group? Get discount tickets online at The Anthology Giftshop here. Discounts available for groups as small as six. You can also buy your single ticket online, and bring the paypal receipt with you.
Why?

Duh, because poetry doesn’t have to suck.
